Smart agricultural practices help improve production efficiency 15-20%
Day 20/12, Ministry of Agriculture&Rural Development organizes a webinar to summarize the part 3 (Support smart agricultural practices that adapt to climate change) under the Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (WB7).

The WB7 project includes 4 component: Support for improved irrigation management; Upgrading irrigation system infrastructure; Supporting Climate Change Adaptation Smart Agricultural Practices and Project Management and Monitoring, evaluate, educate.
At the Workshop, Deputy Minister of Agriculture&Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh said, in the context of high risk, negative impacts of climate change and disease, The agricultural sector must always ensure national goals related to food security, economic growth, poverty alleviation and social stability. To accomplish these goals, Ministry of Agriculture&Rural Development proposed the WB7 Project and was supported by the World Bank with a total budget of 210 million dollars, including 180 million is ODA loan and 30 million is the counterpart capital of the Government of Vietnam.
Deployed since 2014, WB7 project contributes to improve irrigation service, spend more 93.000 hectares of cultivation belonging to 7 the provincial, city (Ha Giang, Phu-Tho, Peace, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Quang Nam). The number of people directly benefiting from the Project is more than 245.000 farmer households. System of irrigation works of 7 The province has been upgraded and meets the latest technology.
The project has also built 49 Smart agricultural practice model adapting to climate change, including: 14 model of specializing in rice and rice cultivation – color; 12 vegetable production model – color; 5 model of growing vegetables specializing in vegetables; 12 model of growing fruit trees; 3 long-term industrial tree model (tea and pepper); support 3 plant seed center.
Crops cultivated in 49 The practice model is the main crop varieties, valuable in terms of food security and local endemic goods such as rice, assorted vegetables, fruit trees and other perennials.
With the consent of the people to participate, The project has helped improve productivity, Quality and production efficiency from 15% come 20% compared with traditional farming methods, through which the income of farmers has improved markedly.
The results achieved by the project have made an important contribution to the successful implementation of the Agricultural Restructuring Project as well as the Irrigation Development Strategy to the year 2020. 2030 and vision to the year 2050.
